Water Industry News from local and national press in July
Water moved to boost reservoir levels
Water is being moved from North Wales, the Lake District and Pennines to boost Greater Manchester’s depleted reservoirs, United Utilities has said.
It follows an appeal by the company for people to be careful with water to help avoid a hosepipe ban on Friday, urging residents to turn off hoses and sprinklers and take shorter showers.
A ban has already been introduced in Northern Ireland and there are fears similar action could be taken elsewhere if people do not reduce their usage during the heatwave.
