Environmental Soil Sampling
Environmental Soil Sampling using ‘Sonicbore’
Drilcorp has pioneered it’s ‘Sonicbore’ drilling technique for rapid penetration and sampling of soils.
The rubber track mounted drilling machines have ‘sonic’ drill heads that generate high frequency vibrations which are harnessed and transmitted down the drill string.
The vibrations cause the strata immediately adjacent to the drill string and bit (in the order of 0.1-5mm) to fluidise, removing friction and allowing rapid penetration like a knife through butter. Samples are not disturbed by this action and are of Grade 1 quality not obtainable by any other drilling technique.
No drilling flush is used reducing the risk of cross contamination.
The rapid production rate of the ‘Sonicbore’ drilling method gives added value for money for our clients.
Geotechnical Site Survey
Drilcorp’s range of ‘Sonicbore’ drilling rigs are ideally suited to carry out core sampling due to their minimum
impact on the environment due to zero spoil being created.
This is of great significance when carrying out investigations on contaminated land where the drilling method is not only environmentally friendly but also offers reduced costs by removing the necessity to pay for disposal of contaminated waste.
Working closely with a geotechnical consultant partner Geoenvironmental Risk Solutions (GRS), Drilcorp is able to offer full geotechnical site survey services for any civil engineering undertaking.
